CIDADE NEGRA (www.cidadenegra.com.br)

Cidade Negra is undoubtedly the most important and successful Brazilian pop/reggae band and one of the best in Latin America.

With more than 20 years on the road and over 4 million copies of their 9 records sold, Cidade Negra has sold out several stadiums and clubs in Brazil, and toured in Europe and USA. In 1992, it was the only Brazilian band to participate in the Sunsplash Festival, in Jamaica, and in 1996 at the Sunfest. In 2005, the year of Brazil in France, they performed twice at "Espaço Brasil" (at The Carreau du Temple), in Paris. During the same year in June, the band toured in the US, covering 6 American cities in 10 days: Boston, Danbury, Newark, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego.

Every day, they attract more modern reggae fans worldwide, and continue to grow as one of the public’s favorite Brazilian bands.

The music style of this Rio de Janeiro native group has not lost its authenticity. Even after its international recognition and success, carrying different rhythms, from pop, soul and dance to American funk and hip-hop, they always kept its reggae characteristic. With its charisma and creativity, the band has captivated great international reggae stars, such as Jimmy Cliff, Dennis Brown, Anthony B, Yellowman, Shabba Ranks and Inner Circle, all of whom has already participated in Cidade Negra’s recordings. Some even with original songs.

The band’s most recent CD, “Perto de Deus” (“Close to God”), recorded in Jamaica, somehow brings them back to their gospel and roots origin, featuring songs that contain deep messages and relate to religion, nature, and social awareness.

Cidade Negra’s show in South Florida has been highly anticipated. Last time the group performed in the Sunshine State was back in 2003. Now Cidade Negra is returning to Miami Beach with a concert that will definitely awaken the peace within us all, keeping us “closer to God”.

GARY PINE (www.nestapine.com)

Gary “Nesta” Pine is one of reggae's hottest up and coming artists. Born in Norwich, Port Antonia, Jamaica, he was the lead singer for The Wailers from 1988 to 2006. Gary constantly toured the world with this legendary band, that performed and created many hits with Bob Marley during his lifetime.

Most recently, Gary’s collaboration with French DJ/producer, Bob Sinclair on "Bob Sinclair In The House" allowed him to take a new journey into European dance music. The single "Love Generation", released in 2005 through the Defected label, hit # 3 in the Billboard Magazine’s Top 50 Club Chart in December and it is still listed.

The song has been receiving heavy radio play in Europe and around the world, and been called "an instant classic" and a "real feel-good tune". It is a very sunny and insanely catchy tune - the kind of song you just can't help tapping along to. The vocals were done by Gary Pine, while Bob Sinclair himself is responsible for the cheerful trademark whistle that will get stuck in your head for ages.

Gary has released his solo debut NEW DAY RYZIN’- a blazin’ collection of new reggae that will soon be a classic! Gary is bringing his consciousness and vibrant, positivity to the masses!

This is just the beginning for Gary. He has been granted the extreme honor of taking the stage alongside Bob Marley’s band while collaborating with some of the most talented musicians and producers in the industry. Until now, Gary has given his fans small windows into his creative potential. Now that he is exploring untouched areas of his music, we will no doubt see more of Gary Pine… and he is taking his fans along for the ride! It is Gary Pine time now...People get ready!!!!!

“I bring the music to the people and let them know it is not just dancing, drinking beer and smoking. It is the learning thing, to satisfy your soul and not only your mind because your soul transfers more powerfully to the mind to make you understand the message.”

Gary Pine

SANDRA DE SÁ (www.sandradesa.com.br)

Sandra de Sá, singer and composer, was born in Rio de Janeiro, into a musical family – her father was a drummer and several other family members played professionally. She is considered the “queen of Brazilian soul”.

A self-taught violão (acoustic guitar) player, Sandra soon began to write her first compositions, winning some school festivals. She signed with her first recording company in 1977, and soon Lecy Brandão recorded her "Morenando." "Demônio Colorido" was featured in the TV Globo's MPB 80 festival, which gave national visibility to the song and its composer. She recorded her first LP that same year (Sandra de Sá, RGE).

In the 80’s, she had several hits as interpreter, like "Vale Tudo" (Tim Maia), "Bye Bye Tristeza" (Marcos Valle/Carlos Colla), and "Enredo do Meu Samba" (Ivone Lara/Jorge Aragão), chosen as theme of TV Globo's soap opera Partido Alto. She has recorded with several artists, including Djavan, Titãs, Billy Paul, Marina, Olodum, and others. In 2001, Sandra participated in the Rock in Rio III Festival.

In 2005, Sandra de Sá toured in Europe. In Lisbon, Portugal, performed at Optimus Open Air and in Paris, participated in the celebrations of the year of Brazil in France, featuring her project “Musica Preta Brasileira” (Brazilian Black Music), with Zé Ricardo and Toni Garrido, the lead singer for Cidade Negra. She also worked in some alternative projects, teaming up with Alcione, Nana Caymmi, Luciana Mello, Gabriel o Pensador, Luiz Melodia, Jorge Vercilo, Rosamaria, among other great artists from the wonderful Brazilian Popular Music (MPB). And, to perfectly wrap the year up, she perfomed on Madeira Island, in Portugal, on December 30 and 31, bringing her music to one of the best New Year Parties in the world!

Sandra de Sá is celebrating her 25 year career, and is ready to share the stage again with her dear friends, Cidade Negra, as one of the band’s special guests.
